Cold Cuts Barbershop welcomed to Philippi’s business community

Continuing its practice of welcoming new businesses to Philippi’s business community with a framed Philippi Covered Bridge print, the Philippi Convention and Visitors Bureau visited Cold Cuts Barbershop recently to make a presentation of the print to the shop’s owner, Caden Price.

Price is a recent graduate of Sharp as an Errol Barber School in Morgantown. While in the barbering program, Price learned clipper and shear cuts, shaving and facial trimming in addition to learning about the business and professionalism associated with being a barber.

Prior to attending barber school, Price studied cosmetology for two years at Fred Eberle Technical Center in Buckhannon. Price said he decided to open his barber shop in Philippi because he realized Philippi hadn’t had a barber shop in many years, and he wanted to help the community fill this need. The new barber particularly enjoys talking with people, and he says he learns a lot about his customers and his community when customers are in the barber chair. Frequently, visitors will drop by the shop just to visit.

At the new shop, customers may get design cuts, straight razor shaves, and regular cuts. Most of Price’s customers are male although he does provide female cuts also. All his customers are walk ins as he does not make appointments.

Cold Cuts Barbershop is open on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 9 am to 5 pm, on Thursdays from 1 pm to 9 pm, and on Saturdays from 9 am to 1 pm. The shop is at 21 Mill Street in the large gray building across the street from Sheetz. It is immediately recognized by the traditional barber pole at both the front and the back doors.

Cold Cuts Barbershop is the 20th new business the CVB has visited since it began its welcoming events in 2021. The framed Covered Bridge print is given as a thank you to the business for its confidence in Philippi as its new location.

The Philippi Convention and Visitors Bureau’s primary purpose, according to the WV law and the Philippi City Charter under which it operates, is to enhance the economic climate of Philippi by developing and promoting the tourist resources and convention attractions. The Board’s visits to local businesses have been undertaken to emphasize the importance of the businesses to the economic climate of Philippi.
